ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

We’re looking for a talented Staff R&D Engineer to join our growing R&D team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing engineering expertise and leadership in the development of AAA and Peripheral technologies, including but not limited to enhanced and new stent graft technologies, along with catheter-based delivery systems, to ensure the achievement of Endologix's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead technology and product development from concept through commercialization, ensuring solutions meaningfully improve patient outcomes and deliver measurable clinical value.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, including experimental design, data analysis, and technical reporting, with a strong emphasis on quality, transparency, and scientific rigor.
  • Provide strong technical leadership while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Quality to drive investigations, resolve technical challenges, and ensure seamless product development and launch execution.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, peers, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders; provide clear technical direction and ensure all documentation complies with GMP and internal quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and QA to design and refine new products, components, assemblies, and tooling, continuously seeking opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate design verification activities to confirm products meet engineering and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform failure mode analysis and technical risk assessments; proactively identify hazards and implement mitigation strategies through Design and Process FMEA.
  • Maintain thorough and compliant engineering documentation within the company’s quality system.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and, when appropriate, guide or mentor technical staff to drive project milestones and accountability.
  • Define project scope, timelines, and problem-resolution strategies across multiple subject areas, exercising sound judgment and confident decision-making to overcome technical obstacles.
  • Support component qualification and new product development initiatives to ensure robust, reliable, and scalable product performance.
  • Contribute to additional initiatives and responsibilities as needed to support team and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering from a four-year college or university; or related major in Life Sciences preferred.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree, or 3+ years of relevant experience with a PhD, in medical device manufacturing, development, testing, test plans, test reports, design control regulation and experience with catheter and stents. 

Skills/Competencies:

The compensation package includes:

  • Base salary of $125,000/yr-140,000/yr
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Equity participation as approved by Board of Directors (4-year vesting schedule)
