    As a part of the Global Program Management Office, the Director, Program Management is a high impact, hands-on leadership role that drives major initiatives/programs associated with significant future growth and long range forecasts projected to continue through a 3 – 5 year horizon. They work on complex programs where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of medical devices or a related field. Program responsibility includes working closely with functional leads to build program roadmaps, guide the program teams to achieve clearly defined business goals, and oversee resource capacity and demand. This individual has the responsibility of partnering closely with cross functional project and business teams to ensure scope, timeline, risk mitigation, and activities for New Product Development (NPD), or business programs and their subordinate projects remain connected and coordinated and are consistently communicated across the organization in a transparent manner. The Director, Program Management will facilitate budget and planning as needed to recalibrate investment strategies. The Global Program Management Office is not responsible for coordinated management of projects that are specific to the operation of a function and do not require cross-functional support.


    Strategic Program Planning and Goal Setting:

    • Works with Executive Team, key stakeholders, and functional leads as a part of the program planning cycle to build roadmaps and program strategies that align with the corporate goals.
    • Works with the portfolio management team on scenario planning and assessment of organizational readiness and capacity.


    Program and Project Prioritization, Portfolio Alignment:

    • Leads the cross-functional integration of plans and resources for new product development or cross-functional business programs. Determines resource needs for programs, works with functional leads on resource allocation, makes recommendations to Senior Management on capacity constraint solutions, trade-offs, or projects to delay.
    • Ensures project business cases are high quality, complete, accurate, and timely; additionally challenges content and assumptions before projects are reviewed in Design Review and Tollgate meetings.
    • Responsible for multi-project dependency management across programs and value streams where multiple functions are represented by employees assigned to the program.


    Program Execution and Governance:

    • Oversees development and coordinated management of detailed plans for programs with cross-functional stakeholders; overseeing programs/associated projects both on a strategic and tactical level.
    • Partners with functional and project leads to deliver results and ensure timely and robust delivery of projects; managing with a high-level of discipline and attention to detail, using schedules, and applies critical chain methodology as appropriate.
    • Manage project scope and deliverables through a structured change management process to ensure customer expectations are met, while protecting corporate objectives. Manage change control through planning and communication as requirements and priorities shift.
    • Identify risk factors and escalate risks to delivery in advance and lead cross-functional efforts to mitigate risk, develop contingency plans, or adjust project scope, resources, or time lines on as needed basis. Negotiate with or influence Sr. Management to resolve program or project level challenges.

    Program Financials/Metrics and Reporting

    • Partners with Finance team to capture appropriate metrics for inclusion in program business cases in order to demonstrate the expected business benefits.
    • Coordinates the identification and documentation of appropriate project costs and benefits; tracks program spend against plan.
    • Regularly tracks progress on responsible programs and provides updates and financial insight upon program/projects to Sr. Management Team. Act as single point of contact for responsible program on schedule, cost, risks, and scope.
    • Ensures proper program/project metrics, risks, and benefits are tracked to ensure effective portfolio decision-making. Assess actual performance against the project plan and make adjustments consistent with plan objectives.
    • Facilitate meetings and approvals required for project approvals: including the project Tollgate reviews, Design Reviews, PRC, financial planning and all other preliminary approvals required before projects commence work.
    • Ensures all stakeholders are informed of progress and issues.


    Continuous Improvement

    • Leads development of solutions to complex problems that require use of ingenuity, creativity; applies DMAIC root cause analysis methodology.
    • Utilize continuous improvement practices as a part of the program management practices and execution.


    Project Management Practice

    • Participate in the development of the project management methodology and process, standards and associated tools, deliverables, communication plans, and operational cadence necessary to ensure consistent project execution. Solicit and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the tools and implement improvements.
    • Facilitate in consensus building on project management methods, processes, and execution across key stakeholders. Train on Global PMO processes and methods.
    • Follows the Global PMO framework to manage programs, complete projects, monitor and report on progress.


    Talent Management

    • In accordance with Endologix’ policies and applicable laws and regulations: Select, reward, discipline, train and develop employees.
    • Plan and direct performance of staff members as assigned: Motivate employees, assist in goal setting, provide development opportunities and performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.


    Additional Job Duties:

    • Provides personal expertise as well as project leadership.

    • Assigns projects or activities to individual contributors.
    • Responsible for maintaining compliance, consistency of practices and work quality.
    • Executes on projects and assignments.
    • Coaches and mentors project team members and, as needed, provides feedback to functional leaders regarding team o member’s development.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g. engineering, chemistry, physiology) from a four-year college or university or related major required; MS or MBA strongly preferred; (Masters may substitute for one year of experience, PhD or MD may substitute for two years of experience).
    • PMI certification a plus.


    Minimum Experience:

    • Eight+ (8) years of directly relevant experience with Endovascular products, medical device development or other highly regulated industries.
    • Six (6) years of product development experience, preferable in the medical device field. Experience with all phases of product development.
    • Experience with FDA, ISO, GMP and design control regulation.
    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and experience in successfully leading projects or programs. Ability to independently manage and lead all facets of a program, from program strategy to execution and governance, with minimal supervision.
    • Effective communication and strong presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all levels of employees in a team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects
    • Ability to influence and direct multiple activities and work in a fast-paced environment
    • High degree of analytical skills and experience with associated tools
    • Ability to conduct problem solving without preconceived notions or bias due to incomplete data or opinions of others. Ability to probe and determine the cause of the defect while maintaining objectivity and relationship.
    • Computer proficiency, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, ProChain.
