    Job Scope:


    Supply Chain generalist role providing supply chain expertise to support Operations in achievement of Service, Financial, New Product Development, Continuous Improvement, and Quality/Compliance objectives and metric goals.  Requires broad knowledge of the business and its objectives, with heavy emphasis on understanding and meeting both internal and external customer needs.  Ensures that activities (material delivery, schedules, services and related resources) are well-planned and coordinated to support business needs.  Performs complex analysis of supply chain data, draws appropriate conclusions, makes recommendations on organizational activities, and participates in implementation. Uses professional concepts and principles to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.   Ensures that activities are completed in compliance with company policies and department guidelines.


      • Responsibilities are typically of moderate scope & complexity.  These will include duties in one or more of the following supply chain functions:  Supplier Management, Inventory Management, Procurement, Planning, Distribution, and Logistics.  Works on diverse issues requiring in-depth analysis of situations or data, in consideration of a variety of factors.
      • Supplier Management:  Identifies suppliers (primary & secondary) and strategic partners to meet the sourcing needs of the company.  Coordinates with Supplier Quality in the evaluation of both new and existing suppliers.  Establishes and maintains positive relationships with suppliers, while actively pursuing service, financial, and quality improvements.
      • Plans, procures and schedules materials and resources to ensure business needs are satisfied.  Confers with department manager(s) or supervisor(s) to coordinate activities.
      • Interfaces with Production, Quality Assurance, and Finance in review of material inventory status, prioritizing purchase orders and implementing action plans as necessary.  Manages issues related to design changes and material shortages to avoid or minimize organizational impact.
      • Proactively responds to changing market conditions and/or customer needs.  Displays flexibility in approach to meeting or exceeding both current and future needs.
      • Proactively identifies potential business risks and creates/suggests mitigation plans to address them.
      • Provides supply chain input and support to New Product Development teams, including the identification of suppliers, procurement of materials/equipment, and appropriate cost containment guidance.
      • Identifies and supply chain opportunities contributing to the improvement of quality, service, productivity, financials (cost and inventory), and cycle times.
      • Contributes to the development of a quality-minded culture within the Operations team by focusing on customer service (external and internal), outstanding compliance, and continuous improvement activities that support business objectives.
      • Responsible for ensuring compliance to applicable Quality and Documentation Systems and completing all required training in a timely manner.

    Additional Duties:

    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Expected travel time:  Minimal (10% or less).


    • Strong communication skills (both oral and written), analytical capability, team orientation, and ability to negotiate towards positive outcomes.
    • Strong organizational skills and good understanding of team dynamics.  Must be detail-oriented, with ability to connect the detail to higher-level goals.
    • Preferred / Ideal candidates will possess all or some of the following qualifications;
      • APICS certification
      • ERP system experience
      • Understanding of contracts (supply, services, non-disclosures, etc.)
      • Project management skills/experience
      • Cost accounting understanding / experience.


    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.


    • Minimum of seven-eight (7-8) years of related experience; medical device, pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry knowledge a plus.

    • Experience should include all or several of the following areas:  Supplier Management, Procurement, Production Planning, Inventory Management, Distribution and Logistics.

    • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) or similar software.

      Working knowledge of quality system requirements and good manufacturing practices.
