Job Scope and Purpose:

Manages the overall end to end PLAN-SOURCE-MAKE-DELIVER process. Plans and implements activities related to the sourcing, demand planning, production planning, procurement, warehousing, material/inventory control, distribution and customer service functions. Develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures, schedules and control systems. Ensures materials are planned, ordered/manufactured and in stock to meet company requirements, while maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Actively identifies and executes upon improvement opportunities in the areas of cost, service, supply security and asset utilization (inventory).

Responsibilities

  • In accordance with Endologix’s policies and applicable laws and regulations: Select, reward, discipline, train and develop employees.
  • Plan and direct performance of HR staff members as assigned: Motivate employees, assist in goal setting, provide development opportunities and performance feedback, address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Oversees planning, execution and management of the sourcing, procurement, planning, warehouse, customer service and distribution functions to ensure that:
  • Maintain adequate supply of all components and finished goods to support all sources of demand (internal and external).
  • Control is maintained throughout the supply chain. All components and finished devices are part number and lot number controlled. Traceability of components and finished goods is maintained and inventory accuracy is achieved.
  • Minimizes write downs due to obsolescence and shrinkage.
  • High quality, high value and reliable suppliers/service providers are selected and maintained to support R&D and commercial activities. Performance is regularly reviewed to identify preferred providers, stimulate/drive supplier improvement and to identify/execute on necessary changes of suppliers.
  • Supply/service risk is mitigated via effective metrics, controls, robust contracts/agreements and strategic inventory.
  • Customer Service Representatives balance providing outstanding service to enable maximum performance from our field sales/clinical team while driving compliant behaviors and support of financial objectives.
  • Continuous improvement is pursued to optimize asset utilization and maximize service while driving down the costs of acquisition (goods & services) and supply chain execution throughout the chain. This includes measuring and driving improvements regarding field inventory practices and behaviors.  
  • Technology (ERP, CRM, Barcode, RFID, Paperless transactions, etc.) is leveraged to drive efficiency.
  • Directly responsible for all of the above for all North America activities including international shipments and 3rd parties managed by the Corporate supply chain team. Provides corporate oversight and support for these activities conducted/managed by Endologix OUS operations.
  • Supports and provides input to R&D initiatives to represent supply chain functions.   Represent Operations on “Commercialization” teams and assigns resources as needed to “Project Teams” per DOP-191. Supports “Design Transfer” efforts per DOP-095.
  • Partner effectively internally across functions/geographies and externally with suppliers and service providers.
  • Manages the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. Provides metrics and regular management updates.
  • Creates/manages budgets for areas of responsibility. Partners closely with Finance. Often provides leadership / coordination for Operations wide financial activities.
  • Company procedures are adhered to and legal/regulatory requirements are met. Promptly responds to necessary corrective actions (CAPA) and observations from internal or external audits.
  • Creates, updates and drives compliance to internal procedures and work instructions related to areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in one of the following areas: Business, Finance, Economics, Management Science, Operations Management, Mathematics or Engineering. Master’s degree is desirable. APICS training / certification is preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of 6-10 years related experience, medical device experience preferred

  • Requires 3-6 years previous supervisory experience

  • Strength and experience negotiating, developing, executing and managing to supply/service agreements is required.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing required. Green or Black Belt certification preferred.                                                                                                                                    

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.   Has the ability to use moderate to advanced quantitative modeling techniques when analyzing data and the ability make rational and logical decisions base the that analysis

  • Strong knowledge and skills regarding spreadsheets is required. Strong knowledge of ERP systems. Knowledge of and experience with QAD preferred. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management systems (i.e. SalesForce.com) also preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings required. Experience executing /approving documentation changes in a Change Control environment preferred.

Equipment Use:   Copy machines, fax machines, calculators and personal computers and computer terminals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB:

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to move within and between the buildings. A computer terminal is used to access, input, and retrieve data. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
